SMK Develops Shield Clip for Noise Suppression
Featuring Improved Workability and Strong Cover Retention
SMK Corporation has developed a shield clip mainly for automotive applications, which is used to fix noise shielding cover onto the printed circuit board (PCB). When used the clip, the shielding cover will be mounted after reflow-soldering unlike soldering the cover directly on the board, and that makes it easy to confirm solderability of the parts placed under the cover.
Although shielding covers attached with clips sometimes come off easily due to the vehicle vibrations, SMK’s new product achieved strong cover retention with half-locking system using shield clips and a cover.
In order to improve mounting workability, the shield clip has a wide lead-in for easy insertion of shielding cover, and is designed to prevent solder wicking.
Shielding covers can also be supplied by SMK on request.
Going forward, SMK will continue to expand the line of further miniaturized products to offer more design freedom for other parts on the PCBs with small mounting space.
