SMK Installs Solar Power Generation Systems
at Toyama and Hitachi Works
SMK Corporation (President, CEO and COO: Yasumitsu Ikeda) announced today that it has installed and begun operating solar power generation systems at its production sites in Toyama and Hitachi as part of its environmental initiatives. The electricity generated will be consumed in-house.
The solar power generation systems at the Toyama Works began operation on March 17, and is expected to generate approximately 1,032 MWh of electricity and reduce CO₂ emissions by 480 tons per year. At the Hitachi Works, the systems began operation in Building 2 in February and will be installed in Building 1, which is scheduled to begin operation in August. The combined annual power generation of Buildings 1 and 2 is expected to be approximately 568 MWh, reducing CO₂ emissions by 256 tons.
SMK Group will promote the installation of solar power generation systems at its overseas production sites (in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Mexico) with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
