SMK Develops Touch Pad with Capacitance Sensing Capabilities for Automotive Applications That Can Be Operated While Wearing Gloves
SMK Corporation has developed a capacitance multi-touch pad for automotive applications.
While fulfilling standard automotive specifications such as its EMI-resistant features and conformity with EMC standards, this product can also be operated while wearing gloves.
The new capacitance touch pad can function with two points such as flick and pinching operations similarly found on smartphones. It also senses a “pseudo-push” by detecting the pressure and the changes in sensitivity on the ground contact area activated by a finger (or glove). With SMK’s unique algorithm, the new multi-touch pad boasts a malfunction prevention function that senses foreign objects such as drops of liquid and even coins.
While this product is developed in response to orders received from customers, the development period can be greatly shortened because of SMK's unique architecture such as blocking programs per function.
