Development of Sale of Capacitive Touch Panel with Unique Shape
We are pleased to announce that we have developed and released a Capacitive Touch Panel with Unique Shape.
In recent years, there has been increased need for thinner touch panels with greater design ability for devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs.
In order to manufacture unique shapes, a "chemical etching" technique is employed, which uses a chemical solution to dissolve and cut glass rather than cut it mechanically. By using this "chemical etching" technique, complex shape processing and drilling can be achieved in a single process, allowing unique shapes to be manufactured. This technique also has the advantage of minor strength degradation in relation to cracking because cut surfaces are not damaged by small scratches (micro-cracks).
Other features of this product are its slender shape, narrow frame and high transparency as it uses a single sheet of glass both as a touch panel sensor and a decorative laminate.
Needs for varying touch panel shapes not only apply to smartphones, so we intend to develop the market to respond to widening needs for design ability.
This product was exhibited at our "TEXPO 2012" technical exhibition held at Shinagawa Goos from 6th to 8th June this year.
