Development of ZigBee®RF4CE Compatible RF Module “FD0001” with a Built-in 2.4GHz Band Antenna for Remote Control Unit

 
We are pleased to announce the development and release of a low power and small-type RF module with a built-in 2.4GHz band antenna.
In recent years, it has become possible to send and receive large amounts of data due to the increased functionality of equipment and there are now increased needs for an RF module that realizes omni-directional operation without having to point the remote control unit at equipment.
This product halves the amount of electric current currently used to send and receive data while maintaining the same functionality as our previous "FD7003" RF module. In addition, it is 15% smaller than our previous models.
By adding this product to our lineup, we aim to expand our remote control business by meeting wide-ranging needs not only for consumer devices, such as AV equipment, but also for new business including HEMS.
This product was exhibited at our "TEXPO 2012" technical exhibition held at Shinagawa Goos from 6th to 8th June this year.

Features

1)By using the omni-directionality feature of RF, PAN(Note1)with remote control as its core can be easily structured (N-to-N application is possible).
2) Compatible with ZigBee®RF4CE(Note2)Specification Version 1.00.
3) The standby-mode and intermittent reception feature conserves electricity consumption.
4)DS-SS(Note3)employed for the modulation system provides high-resistance to noise and interference.
5) Employment of a radio communication system using 2.4 GHz ISM band provides equipment with worldwide compatibility, contributing to equipment standardization.
6) Acquired certification for each module according to the Japanese Radio Law, FCC(Note4) and CE(Note5). Obtaining RF certification for equipment is unnecessary, contributing to the reduction of equipment development time and lower certification costs.
7) Compatible with decoded output of various IR communication formats, allowing equipment to be easily designed because previous IR receivers can be substituted with this module without having to change application software in equipment.
