About the damage situation
due to The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake (4th Report)

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to all those affected by the Pacific Ocean Offshore Tohoku Region Earthquake that occurred on 11th March.
We inform you of the effect of this earthquake to the SMK Group as of 6.00 p.m., March 21.
In regard to our sites and affiliated production company located in Ibaraki Prefecture, production facilities have largely been recovered and normal business operations are scheduled to resume from today despite the fact that the supply of lifelines such as water has still not been secured in some areas.
Sites located elsewhere are operating as normal.

< SMK sites and affiliated production companies that are close to recovery>
Hitachi Works (Hitachi-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture)
Ibaraki SMK (Kita-Ibaraki-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture)

* * The above bases have suspended operations since the earthquake but power, communication lines, and computer networks have been recovered and normal business operations are scheduled to resume from today as a result of taking temporary measures to restore utilities such as water.
However, as well as some of our business partners sustaining damage, there are still some lifeline problems such as  distribution and everyday problems such as fuel shortages. Therefore, some time may be required before our production operations are fully recovered.

<Effect of Scheduled Blackouts>
The estimated effect of the scheduled blackouts to our headquarters and main production sites as of the current time is minimal, and operations are continuing as normal.
