We inform you of the damage to the SMK Group’s sites caused by this earthquake, as of the evening of March 16.

One employee at our Kita-Ibaraki-shi office suffered a minor injury at the site premises when the earthquake occurred. However, apart from that, there were no injuries to any of our employees or their family members in the same household.
There was damage to some production facilities at our SMK Group site located in Ibaraki Prefecture, and we are working flat-out to recover production activities.

＊ The above bases have suspended operations since the earthquake. Power has partially resumed, and we are concentrating all on our efforts on resuming production as soon as possible from the 22nd of this month. However, due to the effects of the earthquake, permanent workers will have difficulty coming to work, utilities aside from electricity such as water are not fully recovered, there are delivery problems due to fuel shortages, and some materials suppliers have sustained damage. Therefore, some time may be required before operations in the above bases are fully recovered.

Our Tokyo offices including our headquarters have been operating as normal since 14th March (Monday). To support the recovery of the disaster-affected areas, we have implemented power saving measures such as turning off rooftop neon signs, and limiting the operation of air conditioning systems and elevators.
