Development of the Industry’s Smallest “Multipole Insulation Displacement Connector (Top-Entry Model)”
We are pleased to announce the development of the industry’s smallest multipole insulation displacement connector (IDC) for small devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras.
In recent years, multiple speakers and microphones have been loaded in mobile phones and digital cameras in line with the increased stereo capabilities of such devices. To connect these added features, demand is increasing for multipole type cable connectors that occupy a small PWB area with a high degree of design freedom.
Our previously released 2P type small IDC connector (ID-01/02 Series) has attracted favorable reviews, and we have now put this know-how to use to develop the multipole model.
This new product is equipped with one type of receptacle for harnesses and two types of plugs for the PWB. Users can choose from a space-saving or low-profile model, contributing to the improved freedom of equipment design.
With regard to connector size, the low-profile model has a mating height of 0.9mm and depth of 3.0mm, while the space saving model is 1.2mm by 2.1mm respectively. These are the smallest dimensions in the industry, enabling the increased compactness and even lower profile of devices.
In addition to its molded locking provision, the lock structure uses an innovative two-point contact structure. These features help to achieve a sturdy structure resistant to vibration and drop impact, with high contact reliability.
We envisage that this product will support 2 to 6 pins.
