RF (wireless) module best suited for remote control applications

We are pleased to announce the development and the commencement of shipment of samples of an RF (wireless) module, which is a “2.4 GHz ISM band RF module with a built-in antenna”, best suited for remote control applications, specifics of which are outline below.


As larger living spaces and flat-screen TVs are becoming popular, wider directional angles are required of remote controls for AV equipment. In addition, extended acceptance of terrestrial digital broadcasting has increased chances for inputting text commands and touch-pad input, and subsequently, faster response is sought for stress-free operations. Furthermore, required are interactive transmission to enable EPG via a remote control and extension of battery life for energy conservation.


The development of this “2.4 GHz ISM band RF module with a built-in antenna” is our response to such requirements.


This new product provides faster response by being compatible with a UART interface while omni-directionality is realized taking the advantage of the RF's characteristics.


Compatibility with EPG with a remote control is possible via interactive communication using transceivers. Electrical power conservation measures are implemented by transmission featuring a stand-by mode and by intermittent reception.


We will continue to supply user-friendly remote controls by addition of RF system products to our previous optical system products and further extend our remote control line

  • 4) Usability by consumers is improved by provision of an automatic pairing function which enables automatic ID registration without awareness of pairing operations and which facilitates 1-to-1 communication, and further by adoption of the DSSS modulation system which is resistant to noise and also provides enhanced anti-radio interference performance through the use of our original radio interference avoidance function.
  • 5) Adoption of a wireless communication system using the 2.4 GHz ISM band makes this module applicable worldwide and contributes to standardization in equipment designing.
  • 6) With this module having been recognized in the form of a single item by the Japanese Radio Law, FCC and CE, equipment containing this module does not have to be subjected, due to the use of this module, to recognition, resulting in reduction in equipment development time and expense incurred in acquisition of such recognition.
  • 7) Decoded output is possible in various types of infrared communication formats if the existing infrared receiver is replaced by this module. In this case, change of application software is not necessary on the equipment side, and equipment design will be easier.
