A new model added to the current JSS series
slide switch (single-side momentary) repertoire

We are pleased to announce the development and commencement of shipment of samples of a right direction type (single-side momentary) of the JSS series slide switch. This has its sliding action in the right direction, reverse of the previous left direction. The function of the left direction type has also been improved. Specifics of this right-direction (single-side momentary) switch are outlined below.

In recent years, cases where switches used in portable products including mobile phones, digital portable audio equipment and notebook PCs malfunction have increased when, for example, such products are put into carrying bags or something like it. To counter such problems, switches lesser likely to malfunction are required. In addition, switches are no exception from requirements for compatibility with more operation modes to meet diversified design of portable products.

The development of this JSS series (single-side momentary) right direction type slide switch is our answer to meet such requirements.

This new product facilitates operation in the right direction, opposite to the previous left direction, carrying over the previously available momentary action (spring-back system) contributable to equipment malfunction prevention. Reverse direction operation allows for more diverse equipment design.

Simulation designing has allowed optimization of the performance and configuration of the coil spring, extending its life to 100,000 cycles from previous 20,000 cycles (500% of the previous service life) for lengthened equipment reliability. Further, holding the operation force down to 1.2N from previous 2.0N (60% of the previous force) improves equipment operability.

We plan to proactively introduce this new product to the smaller portable equipment and notebook PC markets.
