Highly heat resistant film + glass type low reflectance touch panel developed and marketed

We are pleased to announce that we have developed and commenced marketing of a highly heat resistant film + glass type low reflectance touch panel, which comprises a film as the upper electrode and glass as the lower electrode, with a polarization plate and a differential phase shifter adhered on the touch panel. Particulars of this touch panel are outlined below.

Touch panels for automotive applications require high heat resistance of -30 to +85℃ for operation, especially for production line installation models. To meet such stringent requirements, a majority of requirements have occurred to low reflectance touch panels of a glass + glass type, of which we are the major supplier.

The new product we are now discussing is, despite the film + glass design, applicable to automobiles as genuine supplies. This has been made possible by our successful structural improvement to increase heat resistance. Further, demand has increased for low reflectance touch panels for prevention of image reflection on the panel surface under direct sunlight and for improved visibility of images on LCDs.

Previous film was unusable due to a light interference pattern occurring when a polarization plate is laid, resulting in loss of visibility and consequent inability to use.

In this new product, an interference pattern is prevented from occurring by the use of optically isotropic film as the upper electrode, with a polarization plate and a differential phase shifter laid over it. By doing this, reflection within touch panels is absorbed and thus reflectance is reduced. Adoption of this structure allows reflectance to be reduced to 7% from more than 15% with previous film + glass designs.

Moreover, application of AR (anti-reflection) finish on both surfaces of touch panels will further reduce reflectance to 1.5%, lowering the degree of image reflection of direct sunlight and raising visibility. Production will be run by our Philippines factory in a monthly size of 100,000 units.
