Industry's shortest 0.75 mm-high, when mounted,
and 0.4-mm-spacing FPC connector
We are pleased to announce that we have developed and commenced marketing of a 0.4 mm-spacing FPC connector, for particulars of which, please refer to the description below.
As design of portable equipment such as mobile phones and DSC gets smaller and thinner and more functional, FPC connectors for internal connection are no exception from increasing market requirements for narrower spacing, downsizing, and higher density mountability.
A height of only 0.75 mm when mounted and depth of 3.6 mm render this connector the industry’s shortest. Employment of our exclusive separate upper and lower contact design (patents applied for) makes both sides of FPCs usable. Half the space previously taken is now sufficient to mount, helping reduce mounting space on PWBs. (For example, 15 poles x 2 rows => 30 poles in the previous 15-pole space) Use of a single surface FPC offers users an option for use of either the upper or lower contacts.
The upper surface of the connector is made up of a shield cover. Resulting provision of shielding performance and enhancement of connector strength further stabilize contact reliability. Combined use with a shielded FPC will make counter-noise efforts more effective.
With the employed contacts being of an N-ZIF structure, even easier FPC insertability is realized. Also, mechanisms for prevention of unintentional disengagement and of incomplete FPC insertion are provided.
